Job Overview:

We are a newly opened neighbourhood café and we're excited to grow our team! We’re currently hiring a part-time Barista (4 shifts per week) to help us build a welcoming, community‑focused space from the ground up. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, personable, skilled, and confident working in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

Able to communicate in English
Minimum 1 year barista experience in an independent café
Basic knowledge of grinder dialing and latte art
Currently living in Toronto, with the ability to commute for early morning shifts (as early as 6:30am)
Familiarity with POS systems, particularly EPOS now, is a plus
Full, flexible availability—including weekends and public holidays
A genuine love for coffee
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers
Experience in serving, food preparation, and food handling is advantageous
Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices in a food service environment

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to company standards
Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for accurate order processing and cash handling
Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service throughout their visit
Manage food safety and hygiene standards during food handling and preparation
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and dining space
Handle cash transactions accurately using basic math skills and cashiering procedures
Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including serving baked goods or light snacks
Ensure timely service by managing multiple orders efficiently with strong time management skills
Follow food safety protocols to ensure quality and safety standards are met
