FWIF legal material is one of the easiest documents to translate, because there is usually a template. It's almost impossible to mess up, and you won't need to look for "best rated" companies, really. All you need to do is call up the companies one by one and get quotes.

I'm a translator myself but I work for two translation companies not listed in RES-1, so can't comment on any of those unfortunately. But after a couple of phone calls (or emails) you'll have an idea of which company is decent and which company is giving you bullshit.

If this is for inheritance of property and money in Japan. you can find most of info online. You need to notify the deceased to proper dept. of country that deceased was at the time of death.

Firstly, I used template to fill half the paper in Japanese. Then I translated same sentence in English. Made my (legal document of my self)in canada with help of local lawyer and by using couple document in English. To make my self that it is me who is related.

Instead using local lawyer, you could ask consulte general of Japan to help you out at this point with couple legal document.

And send that document to "shihou shoshi"the type of lawyer in Japan that both English & Japanese sentence's are same.

Now, take that document to certain Japanese government dept. if you going to do it yourself. Or go to any Japanese Bank that you think your relation's used.

But I used "Bengoshi"the type of lawyer in general. I also hired "zeirishi" tax accountant.

If you can find Japanese lawyer with English translation authority, you might be able to save some money.

It took me one year to find money account and property then divide property between myself and mom.
