Why don't you go to Indigo? They have a lot of books about not only sushi but also Japanese food. Many people think raw fish is important when it comes to sushi but rice is also important as well. Don't forget that! Get a grip of how to make rice for sushi. It's not easy.

I am sorry English is not my first language so it mgiht sound a bit unnatural. I hope you will understand what I am saying!

If you want to try Japanese food in general, it's worth buying a book at Indigo because I haven't seen decent English online recipe other than Sushi... Sushi is not the only food we eat ;). Tempura, Edamame, Japanese Curry, Soba, Udon, Miso Shiru ...etc etc

As for Sushi, I found some web sites explaining how to make California rolls

, but I think it's easier to cut 裏巻き(URAMAKI) with wrap. This receipe (below) is written in Japanese but also has step-by-step pictures. Hope it helps!
